This is just a general observation about the mooring against the North Arm, which it appears a few boats have now made it their permanent "parking place". Although our summer visitors were not as abundant as they have been in previous years, the ones that did manage to moor will certaily think again about returning! And now these few locals boatowners seem to have parked up & left ! It will shortly be the time when we need get alongside to unload etc etc & I'm hoping that one weekend soon there will be space.....some hope! Can someone please buy that boat that has been there ALL summer......!!!! The Harbour Office don't seem minded about the situation, so maybe SABOA may be able to enquire with these people to be reasonable, maybe they are members of our association....!!! Anyway whinge over, hopefully this glorious September weather will spill into October ! Happy Sailing

Hi, thank you for your post. This very issue was brought up at this evening's committee meeting. The harbours office have assured us that this problem will be tackled very soon. SABOA did successfully address this issue with one vessel concerned at the beginning of this season as they are a member of the association. All our members are very reasaonable and always very helpful. It's the non members that we sometimes have difficulties with. New signage is on order for the North Arm, which is worded to assist visitors and deter local boat owners from using the North Arm for extended periods. This should go someway to address the issues that you have raised.

It gets Worse !!! Anybody tried parking on the North Arm recently ? Somebody is having a laugh ! Next year if the Harbour Office send out an invoice for the permit to park on the north arm, it will be returned with a few comments on! I thinkI shall ask for a refund. Have a look the next time you're in the village, Full of trailers & boats on trailers ....... As for trying to moor alongside to unload gear for the season, forget it. Absolutely no change for weeks and weeks and weeks. Is it unreasonable for the Harbour Office to tell the so-called responsible owners to shift onto their moorings, if they have one !!!! It seems a good idea to use and pay for an outside mooring during the season then shift into the harbour alongside the North Arm for the winter !! FREE. Think I'll give it a go as nobody seems to give a hoot. Anybody else got any thoughts on the subject ? or am the only one who wants a fair playing field for boat owners in the harbour & members of S.O.B.O.A.
