St Aubin's Boat Owners Association

Harbour Spring Clean

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time out of their weekends, to pull out a vast amount of rubbish which had accumulated in the harbour over the years.

The Saturday morning crew, did a fantastic job, and the work continued throughout the weekend. We even managed to talk Tanzy into skipping one of her many beloved tenders!! The weekend ended with a few well deserved pints in the Old Courthouse Inn accompanied by the Gallic sounds of Steve May's band.

Thank you to Glen and Peter Bisson for the first photos from the Saturday clean up.

Sunday, and still the piles grow.

The Crew

We now have the beginnings of a harbour that we can all be proud of and shown that we are a pro active association which is not afraid to get it's hands dirty. But the work does not stop there. SABOA has worked together with Terry MacDonald & Jersey Harbours to review our security requirements. Three cameras are going to be installed around the harbour within the next few weeks. Terry MacDonald has very kindly offered to donate his time and expertise completely free to ensure that all St Aubin's boat owners can benefit from a safe and secure place to moor their vessels.

The next project to be organised and executed by the Harbours Office is likely to be the "Gaspe" memorial, which should, subject to planning approval, go ahead fairly soon. This will involve a complete overhaul of the area close to the slip opposite the Old Courthouse Inn. If anyone has a tender tied to the railing from the slip to the first lamp-post on South Arm, could they please remove it before it is removed. When the works in this area have been completed, a dinghy rack will be installed to make life easier for boat owners who have vessels in this corner.

The committee are very pleased to welcome Jan Chapman on board. Jan has bravely volunteered to be our Social Secretary who will oversee the fun side to the Association. If you have any ideas for social events, please get in touch.
